and can be moved from home to home. In many cases, a water softener
has also been known to help sell a property as a result of its
protection of the hot water system and bathroom and kitchen appliances
- Will your water softener
protect my "Tankless Water Heater" from hard water
scale?
- Yes, the water softeners below
actually remove the hard water minerals calcium and magnesium
from the water. Most if not all hot water heater manufacturers
have warranty clauses that state that their product is not covered
if damage is caused by hardness. "Problems resulting from
scale formation are not covered by the warranty" It is worded
differently from one manufacturer to the next, but all of them,
do not cover their products against bad water. This also includes
the popular and expensive "Tankless Water Heaters"
- A tankless water heater is also effected by hard water just
not quite as quickly as with a standard hot water heater tank.
In a tankless water heater, it is only heating water when the
water is moving through the heat exchanger coil. Some hardness
will bond to the interior wall of the copper tubing, but at a
slower rate since it is being flushed as it is being used. Over
time, hard water scale can buildup and result in the overheating
of the heat exchanger.

- "No salt water softeners"
are not true water softeners as they do not remove any hard water
minerals from the water. In other words, your water will not
test or be "soft" after these types of systems. Companies
advertising these systems as "true water softeners"
are simply confusing the consumer. Furthermore, there are no
"no salt water softeners" that have been NSF or WQA
tested or certified to soften water !

- Yes, your water will test
soft after being treated with the RainDance Water Systems

- I have heard that water softeners
require a lot of maintenance. Is this true?
- Our softeners require very little
maintenance other than periodically adding either potassium pellets
or sodium pellets to the brine tank.

- Will those who prefer to
drink soft water be deprived of any minerals deemed necessary
for good health?
- The minerals necessary towards
your daily diet come from your food.
- Neither hard nor softened water
provide any significant quantity of minerals. For example, a
glass of milk contains 4 times the amount of calcium, as does
a glass of water!

- How much sodium is in softened
water?
- A normal daily intake of sodium
for an adult is approx. 3,000 mg.
- Many natural and manufactured
foods and drinks contribute to this daily intake. As a guide,
you would need to drink 75 glasses of softened water to achieve
your daily intake! Typical examples of sodium levels are: - One
glass of milk contains 160 mg - One slice of bread contains 190
mg - A 12 oz can of diet soda typically contains between 30 and
70 mg of sodium - One glass of softened water contains approximately

want to add sodium to my whole house water softener, Is there
an alternative to sodium pellets?
- Yes, our water softeners can
use potassium-based pellets, not sodium, to soften water. So,
your water is not only soft, but it's sodium free. Potassium
soften water vs sodium is also better for plants and gardens.

- Why is Reverse Osmosis better
than filtered water ?
- Carbon filters are good for
filtering chlorine and organic compounds from the water. However,
carbon filters cannot filter total dissolved solids (TDS).
